A Gala evening entirely dedicated to Verdi’s “Popular Trilogy” will be held in the Arena onwednesday 17th July at 9.15 pm. Three different scenes from the trilogy will be performed: Act I from La Traviata, Act II from Rigoletto and Act IV from Il Trovatore. For this exceptional occasion three different casts will perform, each with its own conductor: Andrea Battistoni,Riccardo Frizza - who is making his début in the Arena - and Giuliano Carella.
For the three operas represented in this Verdi Gala Concert there will be an impressive line-up of soloists and conductors.
Act I of La Traviata will open the programme, with Andrea Battistoni on the podium. The soloists will be Aleksandra Kurzak as Violetta and Francesco Meli as Alfredo. They will be accompanied by Chiara Fracasso as Flora Bervoix, Dario Giorgelè as the Marquis D’Obigny,Nicolò Ceriani as Baron Douphol, Gianluca Breda as Doctor Grenvil and Carlo Bosi as the Gaston di Letorières.
Act II of Rigoletto, under the direction of Riccardo Frizza, will see Marco Vratogna in the title role,Vittorio Grigolo as the Duke of Mantua and Sonya Yoncheva as Gilda. Marco Camastra will play the role of Marullo, Carlo Bosi that of Matteo Borsa, Dario Giorgelè the Count di Ceprano,Abramo Rosalen the Count di Monterone, Stefania Abbondi, the Duchess’s page and Victor Garcia Sierra, the Court Usher.
The evening will conclude with Act IV of Il Trovatore with Giuliano Carella as conductor, Hui HeLeonora, Carlo Ventre Manrico, Daniela Barcellona Azucena, Artur Ruciński the Count di Luna and Paolo Antognetti Ruiz.
This unique event, involving the Orchestra, Chorus, Ballet Corps and all the Technical Staff of the Arena di Verona, will be directed by Stefano Trespidi, with Giuseppe De Filippi Veneziaas scenographer, Silvia Bonetti in charge of the costumes, Paolo Mazzon, the lighting designer and Maria Grazia Garofoli, the choreographer.
